Elijah’s Footsteps to The Future
April 5, 2008

For All to Read,

The benefit I attended was organized for little Elijah who is the son of a co-worker of mine. When I first heard about it, I immediately saved the date on my calendar, planning to attend and have a fun night out.

As time went on and I learned more about what went into planning this event, I found myself participating in a pub crawl (and having a ball), making a donation for their silent auction, and then ultimately working the event as a volunteer (with some gentle coaxing from Cheryl). I tell you that, not to "brag about me", but to say how glad I now am to have truly been a part of this wonderful event, and not just a guest. There is no doubt that I had more fun this way as well!

I was highly impressed the night of the benefit. Most of us would never know how much time, hard work, planning & frustration goes on behind the scenes. Thanks to Kevin & Cheryl's leadership and first hand knowledge, they were able to keep everyone focused on the prize... helping Elijah. While there is an incredible loving support system around Elijah, by way of his family and their friends, that support system turned into a powerful team with a goal and a purpose thanks to “Team Healy”.

While I hope that my family is never in need of their services, it is a comfort to know that there are people like them out there, doing good for those in need everyday. They do it not because they have to, but because they care... and it shows in everything that they do. I heard wonderful comments about every aspect of the evening from those in attendance and echo them wholeheartedly.

Wishing everyone good health, much love and happiness.

I have been witness to how love can impact people even in these crazy times. I witnessed that again on April 5th at Elijah's benefit. Of course, having an opportunity to share this moment with the Gomez Family was amazing in and of itself but watching Cheryl and Kevin put together this event in the way they did was truly inspiring. They worked diligently and passionately and they stayed focused on the goal by making life about someone other than themselves. We don't often see that kind of committment but that is what Elijah brings out in us. The event may be over but what we all shared that evening lives on inside of each of us and the Gomez Family. We all wanted to hit a bigger mark for Elijah and I know that good things will continue to come his way. Thank you Cheryl, Kevin and all the other volunteers that I had the pleasure of working with for making that possible.
